Just six minutes from downtown Hammond, Salty Joe’s BBQ Shop is the perfect spot to satisfy your barbecue cravings! If you love the combination of great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and country tunes, this place won’t disappoint. When you step inside, the first thing you’ll notice is the pop-country music that fills the restaurant, creating a laid-back vibe that immediately makes you feel at home. The walls are decorated with exciting art and vintage signs, giving the space a unique charm that makes it stand out.

Salty Joe's Is The Perfect Spot For Watching Your Favorite Team

With tons of TVs all over the restaurant, Salty Joe's is the perfect spot to catch the game day action while enjoying your meal. I counted six TVs that I could clearly see from just my seat at my table; giving me access to multiple games at once!

I visited Salty Joe’s on a Saturday afternoon, right when they opened at 11 am. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the restaurant had a cozy, inviting feel. Around noon is when the place really started to fill up with customers, and it was clear that this is a favorite spot among the locals.

What We Came For - The BBQ!

While Salty Joe's has a very wide range menu, I decided to go with the pulled pork sandwich served with fries, and it did not disappoint! The pork was tender and smoky, which I topped with Salty Joe’s sweet barbecue sauce. My boyfriend opted for the smoked platter, which came loaded with brisket, pulled pork, and 3 ribs, served with smashed potatoes and mac-n-cheese — the ultimate barbecue feast!

Though our lunch was very relaxed, Salty Joe’s hosts live music on select days throughout the month, adding an extra layer of fun to the experience. They also offer drink specials, including happy hour from Monday through Thursday, 3-6 pm, making it a great spot to unwind after work!

After visiting Salty Joe's this weekend, I have come to the conclusion that it is the best BBQ in Hammond! So, if you’re in the Hammond area and craving great barbecue with a welcoming vibe, Salty Joe’s is a must-visit!
